The National Broadband Network (NBN) is currently rolling out across the Corangamite Shire, and as a Telstra partner, Internet Service Provider, and your local computer experts, Gee Bees Media has put together a simple guide on how you can get connected to the NBN.
Types of NBN Technology
Depending on your premises location, you will be able to access the NBN using different forms of technology.
Fibre to the Node (Fixed Line)
NBN Fixed Line, or Fibre to the Node (FTTN), is where NBN will run an optical fibre to a newly built cabinet in your street, which will connect to the existing copper telephone network.
This is the planned delivery for the townships of Camperdown, Cobden and Terang, with applications for connections being taken in the coming months.
Cobden Ready for Service May 2017.
Camperdown and Terang Ready for Service August 2017.
Fixed Wireless
Fixed Wireless is a form of broadband connection where you have an antenna installed by an NBN installer to your roof that receives your internet data from a transmission tower.
Satellite
NBN Satellite is available to rural and remote locations. A satellite dish is installed at your premises and receives NBN from the Sky Muster satellite.
