Miller & Mane realises a dream for Caz Miller

Scotts Creek’s Caz Miller has worked in more than dozen hair salons all over Australia, but on July 1 she’ll fulfill a dream when she becomes the proud owner of her own in Timboon.

Ms Miller will open the doors to Miller & Mane Hair Co after purchasing Timboon Hairitage – the same salon she completed her work experience at as a 15 year-old and where she also completed her work placement as a trainee more than 16 years ago.

The 35 year-old grew up on a beef farm in Scotts Creek, attended Timboon P12 School and spent at gap year milking cows for the Couch family before embarking on a career in hairdressing.

Among a long list of salons, Ms Miller has applied her trade at Studio 66 in Bunbury WA, Scalpt Hair on the Darwin waterfront, she managed Scalpt Hair in Darwin itself for two years and also spent time at Channel 9 in the Northern Territory.

She has a number of hairdressing awards including runner up in the International Hairstylists Society of Australia (IHS) bridal hair category and she won back-to-back stylist of the year awards at Scalpt Hair NT in 2012-2013.

She returned to Timboon in 2015 to work at Hairitage for Sarah Cook and said she was “full of excitement and a little bit of anxiety” about purchasing the business, but was “quite confident that with the support of the Miller & Mane staff it would be a successful move”.

“It was my life-long dream to own a salon and the transition should be pretty smooth for me after working here again for the past five years,” she said.

“When I came back, the timing was perfect for Sarah as well and I stepped in and worked full time. The timing for the next step, buying the business, needed to be right as well and it’s exciting that time has now arrived.

“Home is where the heart is. I love being part of this community and being a small business owner will provide me with a new opportunity to be a part of the local economy as well and to see Timboon continue to flourish.”

Ms Miller said she was passionate about training and development for junior staff forging their own careers in hairdressing and that she had some big plans for Miller & Mane over the coming few months.

“I’m just back from the Hair Expo in Sydney where I completed a business workshop with Tabatha Coffey who is a well-known Australian and international hair stylist and business entrepreneur,” she said.

“In this business you’re always learning, trends are always evolving and it was a great opportunity to develop my business skills and look to the future.

“I’ll be looking to increase services and modernise what we offer. Things like Keratin treatments, a brand new range of high fashion colours, Dyson dryers and some new pampering services will be among the changes.”

Miller & Mane is located at 7 Curdievale Road, Timboon and can be called on 5598 3385.

The launch of ‘GBM technology’

By Glen Bernoth

We’re excited to announce that from today, Gee Bees Media Pty Ltd will trade under the new name of ‘GBM technology’.

It has been three and a half years since we started Gee Bees Media – a then media and marketing business based from home.

The purchase of Camperdown’s Leading Edge Computers and Telstra Partner store at 188 Manifold Street two years ago dramatically expanded on the breadth of services Gee Bees Media offered.

We have decided that after spending two years getting a team of seven great people together, that a name change to GBM technology will better represent our whole business moving forward.

While we will continue to offer our media services to a wide range of business clients across the region, the new brand better represents six sub-brands that you will begin to hear more and more about over coming weeks and months.

GBM technology is the overarching business brand that now sits above the following sub-brands;

To celebrate our new name, we will be holding an official relaunch event next Saturday (December 8) from 9am to 2pm.

We’ll be giving away a Playstation and Weber BBQ and have a whole host of promotions planned including half price tempered glass screen protectors, $40 solar power banks, $30 vouchers for everyone to use when they next need a repair done, free business IT audits and half a day of free onsite labour!

It’s an exciting time for Lisa, myself and the GBM technology team. We hope you’ll come along next Saturday to hear more about our suite of services.

Cheers,

Glen

Streaming – all you need to know!

We receive questions every day about how to stream television, and the best streaming services to use. If you have an older television that isn’t a Smart TV you will need some hardware to get streaming up and running. Even if you have a newer Smart TV you might choose to use hardware such as an Apple TV to stream television because of the simpler user interface.
